Summer HVAC Tips
When summer hits, you may feel too hot to want to take on any extra tasks, especially if those tasks involve HVAC maintenance. That is why it is a good idea to know what summer HVAC maintenance things you need to do before the hot weather sets in. Keep these tasks in your personal calendar for April or May when you do your spring cleaning to ensure you are ahead of the game.
While prepping your HVAC system for the summer, if you happen to notice any issues that require professional attention, our technicians at Inline Sales can help. We are here 24/7 to help you with any emergency (or non-emergency) situation you may experience. No problem is too big or small for Inline Sales & Services Ltd.
Clean and Replace Those Filters!
We cannot express this enough: make sure you clean your air filters! So many issues occur when people forget to clean their filters, including the complete breakdown of their HVAC systems. It is a good idea to start fresh with all new filters, then clean them weekly so they can improve the efficiency of your system. Replace your filters every 90 days, or every 60 if you have pets.
Consider a Smart Thermostat
If you do not yet have a smart thermostat, it may be a good idea for you to consider investing in one. They can save you money in the long run by keeping your home at a constant temperature at all times. Just make sure not to adjust it to force your HVAC system to work harder during those more extreme temperatures. This only puts undue pressure on your system and pulls more money out of your wallet in utilities.
Schedule a Tune-Up
One of the best ways to prep your HVAC system for the summer is to schedule a tune-up before the summer months kick in. If you need help with this, we are here for you! A tune-up is a great way of tightening the things that need tightening, so to speak, before the true problems set in. When you have your HVAC system tuned up, you can enjoy the confidence in knowing you did everything to prep your system for the hard work it has ahead.
Clean Off Your Outdoor Unit
If you have an outdoor central air conditioning unit, it is important that you clean it off as part of your spring cleaning. In addition to cleaning off any grass or debris that may have accumulated during the colder months, you should also trim back the surrounding plant life. Ideally, your unit should have two feet of space around the unit to be sure there will be no obstructions to your airflow.
While you’re at it, double-check the condenser fan, too. If there is anything in there that can obstruct its ability to function properly, you need to remove it immediately. The condenser breaking down is one of the most common service calls we see – and it can be a pricy call at that.
Clean Your Bathroom Fans
This is something that many homeowners overlook, but you should also clean your bathroom fans to help your HVAC system. After all, your bathroom fan probably works harder than any other part of your HVAC system. So, while you are cleaning and preparing everything else, you should give your bathroom fans their due now, too.
Simply turn off the power to the bathroom and remove the fans’ covers. Wash them with soap and water, then use a toothbrush to clean the blades before you replace the covers. Such an easy step that will save you lots of headaches in the long run.
Consider an Upgrade
Sure, it is a pricy thing to consider upgrading your HVAC system entirely, but if it is 10 years old or close enough to it, it is a good idea. It is smart to get ahead of the game here before your older system breaks down and leaves you with no air conditioner during those sweltering summer months. Not only that, but the money you will save on your utility bill with a more efficient system makes the upgrade well worth it.
Our team at Inline Sales can help you select a new HVAC system that is appropriate for your living space. We will also work with you to select a system you can afford and help you set up a budget for making payments.
